Assessment of South Africa’s capacity and readiness to introduce optimal new ARVs.
Conducted in March 2017, the South Africa Needs Assessment was designed to assess the country’s capacity and readiness to introduce optimal ARVs across four domains: 1) Policy, Advocacy, and Finance; 2) Planning Processes and Tools; 3) Service Delivery Capacity; and 4) Transition Monitoring and Visibility. Drawing on both qualitative and quantitative data, the assessment identified bottlenecks or weaknesses that require attention to ensure that the transition to optimized products maximizes both clinical and budgetary benefits.
